Man is the measure of all things
Inspired by this belief, Neurologist – Psychiatrist Spyros Papadopoulos worked hard and in 1967 founded the clinic “Galini” (“Serenity”) in the area of Paleo Tsifliki, in Kavala, with the primary aim of treating mental illnesses. At the beginning of its operation, the clinic had the capacity to hospitalize and care for forty patients. Over time, the needs of the region for the provision of healthcare services to individuals with mental disorders increased, resulting in the creation of new facilities, additional beds, and new functional departments.
The Clinic provides hospitalization and care exclusively to patients suffering from mental illnesses and employs a staff of over 70 individuals, a large number of whom are part of the Scientific Personnel (including doctors and other specialized professionals).
A significant portion of the Scientific Personnel is trained within the facilities of the Clinic, and even when they choose to enter private practice, they maintain their connection with the Clinic due to the large volume of cases it handles. In this way, a vast network for the provision of Mental Health services is created throughout the wider region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.
A distinctive feature of our Clinic is our great patience toward the relatives of our patients. It is not easy for a parent to accept that their child has developed psychosis. They are constantly bombarded by television and other media with negative portrayals and poor behavior within psychiatric clinics. As a result, when they are forced to bring their loved one to a psychiatric clinic, they are filled with many concerns and anxieties. At our Clinic, we change that perception—with great patience. We are obliged not only to care for the patient, but also to dispel the fears of their relatives, investing a great deal of time in supporting them. These are the core principles of our Clinic.
